'PROVIDING ONE -2 - ONE EDUCATION & THERAPY FOR MILD DISORDERED EATING & BODY IMAGE DISTURBANCE'
Our organisation - The Primary Care Counselling Network, a non profit organisation, has received small grant funding from Children in Need for a 1 year pilot project.
A member of our team, Julie Owens, has specialised in Eating Disorders and body image disturbance work since working in London in 1997 at an Eating Disorder Unit as a Nurse Specialist in Richmond London. She will be working with the 14-18 year old age group, outside school hours, providing 1-1 education and therapy and offering support for those with mild disordered eating (including overeating) and body image disturbance that fall outside the criteria for referral to CAMHS as well as those, after referral to secondary services, find they need extra support.
She along with qualified counsellors can also offer encouragement and support to enable the formation of peer groups. Her experience working within this field is extensive.
