|Mission||The mission of the Peace and Freedom Committee is to actively help strengthen the reading, writing and public speaking skills of the youth in our community. To encourage the youth of Central Ohio to learn the history and importance of the civil rights movement, racial equality, peaceful change and to further the DREAM of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to achieve all of these in America.|
|Description||The Peace and Freedom Breakfast is a sold out event year after year! The Peace and Freedom Committee would like to thank the Marion community and all of Central Ohio for their continued support and attendance.|
|Awards||The Peace and Freedom Committee has received recognition, charitable grants and awards over the last seven years. Some of the grants and awards include, 2013 recipient of Marion Community Foundation Grant. 2011 recipient of Marion Community Foundation Grant. Recipient of Kohl's Cares Grant 2008-2013.|

To encourage the youth of Central Ohio to
learn about and further the dreams of Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr.
The Peace and Freedom Committee serves as the Regional hosts of the State of Ohio, Martin Luther King Jr. Oratorical Contest. In addition, the committee also hosts an Essay, Art and Poetry contest. The opportunity to participate is open to the youth of Central Ohio in Marion, Morrow, Delaware, Crawford and Knox counties, grades K - 12/Collegiate.
