What is Financial Exclusion?
Bank accounts, mortgages, credit, savings, pensions and insurances - as financial services get more complex the need for financial capability increases - yet many lack the essential skills to manage their money, many others may be denied access to these services for different reasons. The impact of this can be felt by the financial well-being of the nation as a whole (in Feb 2009 UK consumer debt stood at £232 billion). So ‘financial capability’ is the knowledge and skills to manage finances and make choices about your money and a lack of access to these products/services is ‘financial exclusion’
