Portland Pestos are made in small batches in North Portland, using the best ingredients available while supporting sustainable farming practices. The pestos are more than a condiment, with many uses rather than just a sauce for pasta or on a sandwich.
Here are some of the ways we recommend enjoying Portland Pesto:
• on grilled meats and seafood
• tossed in salads
• with cheese
• in soups
• on pizza
• as a marinade
• anywhere one might use mayo, ketchup or mustard, Portland Pestos offer a tastier, healthier option
Most store bought pestos have been acidified to lengthen shelf life. This alters the flavor and detracts from what pesto should taste like. Portland Pesto Co. aims for a higher standard of flavor and purity by preserving freshness without preservatives or stabilizers. Instead, we freeze our pestos immediately after they are made and deliver them frozen.
Once defrosted, the tomato and olive pestos have a three week shelf life after they are defrosted, and the basil pesto has a shelf life of seven to ten days.
Our pestos are great for both vegans and vegetarians: all of our pestos are vegetarian, and the Sun Dried Tomato Pesto and the Black Olive Pesto are vegan.
