The mission of Prayer Pairs is to put shoes on feet, food in bellies and love of God in hearts. We remember how much we have and give to those who have little.
Living out James 1:27 - "True religion before God is this: To care for orphans and widows in their distress and keep oneself unstained by the world." We make shoes, teach kids (of all ages) to sew and we pray!
In planning a trip to Uganda to help open up the "Little Hands of Hope Children's Home", I saw many pictures of kids without shoes and feet infested with jiggers (sand fleas) and my heart just broke. Since I care for feet by profession, I started wondering if I could sew shoes. I gathered materials and got to work. People loved the shoes and the dream grew. What if I could get groups together to make these shoes? We could teach them how: home-schoolers, people in recovery, ladies groups...the possibilities are many. Before I knew it, people were donating fabric, old buttons and even a new sewing machine. I sold my first three pairs of shoes to a woman who couldn't decide which one she liked best. "Prayer Pairs" was born. Since most supplies are donated, the money can go right to the kids in need. As we grow we'll make shoes to send as well as to sell. And here is a little secret.,, Inside each pair of shoes is a prayer.
