Whether you're 2 or 92, there's always something new to discover at the Putnam!
The Putnam exists to Preserve our region’s history, its stories and memories; to Educate in unique and lasting ways by bringing learning to life; to Connect people to each other and to the science and cultures of the earth we all live on together.
Our classes and special events are a great complement to our hands-on exhibit galleries. There is always something new to discover and something for everyone at the Putnam.
The Putnam was founded in December of 1867 as the Davenport Academy of Natural Sciences, one of the first museums west of the Mississippi.
