Your certified guide will pick you up just outside your cruise ship, get you on board your air conditioned transportation and your fun exploration of the area in Guatemala begins.

As you head towards Antigua City, your guide will give you interesting information not only about the city but also his native Guatemala, the cultural and history. You will pass the beautiful countryside with views of the famous volcanoes. This excursion will have a lot of photo opportunities.

Ranked only behind Colombia, Guatemala is second in the world for producing the best high grade coffee. The countryside is dotted with coffee fincas (farm or plantations). Your first stop will be in the small town of San Antonio Aquas Caliente where you will get to see the coffee production process and how they do it by hand, the old fashion way still done today. And yes, you will have the opportunity to taste!

Passing through the city of Antigua, you will see numerous examples of the Spanish Baroque influenced architecture and colonial church ruins that date back to the 1500's. The city has earned a UNESCO World Heritage Site award due to its cultural importance.

In the center of the city, the guide will lead you to the Central Park and Plaza. You will get to see the Church of La Merced, Cathedral Church and the Santo Domingo Convent as well. You will even get to visit the famous Jade Factory where you will learn about the local mining and production of jade.

There are a wide variety of restaurants that you can choose from if you would like to purchase lunch. Your guide will make suggestions if you would like. There will also be time to do some browsing and shopping where you will find everything from locally hand crafted items, souvenirs and also fine examples of the well-renown brightly colored hand woven textiles!
