Our proven and replicable model focuses on Community Library and Resource Centers (as a vehicle for social and economic transformation. Combining education, enterprise and community development, READ collaborates with rural communities to establish Centers and set-up for-profit enterprises to ensure long-term maintenance and success.|
READ (Rural Education and Development) Bhutan was launched in December 2008 and opened its first Community Library and Resource Center in Ura Village in May 2010.
The READ model addresses three areas:

By providing communities with access to education, technology, vocational training and programs in a variety of topics, READ produces literate and educated individuals with the means to raise themselves out of poverty. It turns communities into viable places to live by giving residents valuable skills, creating jobs, providing access to technology, thus enabling individuals to stay and thrive in their own communities.
