Mission The Rehabilitation Sciences Institute integrates research across scientific disciplines focused on understanding human function and participation in family, community, and society and its relationship to health and well-being. At RSI, we give you the tools to become a world class rehabilitation scientist.
Description The Rehabilitation Sciences Institute (RSI), within the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), is the doctoral stream arm for the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy and the Department of Physical Therapy. It was established in 1995 to foster graduate education and scholarship in Rehabilitation Sciences.

Rehabilitation Science is an integrated science dedicated to the study of human function and participation and its relationship to health and well-being. The academic activities of RSI students cover the full breadth of rehabilitation sciences and the 70 RSI faculty members are distributed throughout the University of Toronto, including teaching hospitals and research institutes. The program has 5 recognized fields: Movement Science, Occupational Science, Rehabilitation Health Services Studies, Rehabilitation Technology Sciences, and Social & Cognitive Rehabilitation Sciences.

RSI is part of the collaborative programs in Bioethics, Neurosciences, Cardiovascular Sciences, Human Development, Life Course and Aging, Health Services and Policy Research, Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering, Health Care Technology and Place, and Women’s Health.
