|About||We keep history alive for future generations. Our volunteers put in thousands of hours each year, and they do it with a smile.|
|Mission||The purpose of the Richfield Historical Society is to bring together those people interested in history, and especially in the history of the Village of Richfield (formerly Township). The Village of Richfield is located in Washington County, Wisconsin. Understanding the history of our community is basic to our democratic way of life, gives us a better understanding of our state and nation, and promotes a better appreciation of our American heritage.|
The mission of the Richfield Historical Society is to discover, collect, preserve and promote the history of the Village of Richfield. The 29-acre Richfield Historical Park, owned by the Village of Richfield and managed by the Richfield Historical Society, has seen vast development in restoration, refurbishing and expansion of the buildings on site. The site was placed on the State Register of Historic Places in 2006 and on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. The Society and the Village are working together to explore options for restoring the eroding foundation of the Messer/Mayer Mill, the site's signature building. The cost is steep and your support for the Society's fund-raising efforts is greatly appreciated.
Social and fund-raising activities as well as several educational programs for all ages sponsored by the society provide opportunites for the community to enjoy local events and become more aware of the history of the Richfield community. Visit the Society's outstanding web site: www.richfieldhistoricalsociety.org to see what else is happening.
With the continued corroboration of the Village Board and the community, the Society continues to be a vital, energetic and growing organization in the Village.
