www.ridbc.org.au Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) provides quality and innovative education and therapy services to achieve the best outcomes for current and future generations with hearing and/or vision loss throughout Australia.
RIDBC's mission is to provide quality and innovative services, to achieve the best outcomes for current and future generations of Australians with vision and/or hearing loss.
RIDBC provides much-needed support and education to children with hearing and/or vision impairment and to those with additional disabilities. On average, one Australian child is identified with hearing loss every day. By school age, 2 out of every 1000 children will require specialised assistance because of hearing loss. In affiliation with the University of Newcastle, RIDBC conducts world-leading research, to develop better education practices for children affected by vision or blindness. Without RIDBC, there would be 500 fewer professionals in Australia qualified to teach children who are deaf or blind.
