|About||Santuario de la Dieta Shipibo is an indigenous centre for the study of medicinal and teacher plants in the Shipibo tradition.|
|Mission||Our mission is to help preserve and share Shipibo wisdom and culture, primarily through our indigenous plant medicines and teachers.|
Working directly with a family of Shipibo Onaya (Maestros and Maestras), the Santuario provides a place where one can connect more deeply with sacred Amazonian plants through traditional Sama (dieta or plant diet).
The Santuario is located in the Peruvian Amazon along the Ucayali river, 6 hours by boat from the city of Pucallpa, and a 30 minute walk from the Shipibo village of Santa Rosa de Dinamarca.
The traditional Shipibo plant diet is both an intense and intensive process, typically spent in isolation and with strict food restrictions, in order to maximize the connection to the plants.
At the Santuario, the recommended duration of a plant diet is at least 1 month, though it is possible to organize diets of less time (eg. 2 weeks) if this is not possible.
The plant diet is not a substitute for the deep healing and clearing process of a dedicated healing centre or retreat. The Santuario is not a hospital but a place for deeper study and inner work. It is not recommended to those without prior experience working with plants.
Santuario de la Dieta Shipibo is proud to be 100% Shipibo-owned and operated.
