To learn as much about boating while having as much fun as possible. To encourage safety, responsibility, and develop leadership skills. To have fun while accomplishing these goals highlighting the ideals of Sea Scouting. To keep in mind an organized ship is a happy ship. Ship 956 will strive to invite as many people as possible to join in this merriment.
Sea Scouts Ship 956 is a 50 year old sailing club for coed teens, ages 14-21. Our ship and boat club is located in the dunedin marina, founded under the Sea Scouts of America in affiliation with the BSA. Alongside our small fleet of boats our goal is to teach as much about the sailing and navigation while also having fun!
The program is Supervised by qualified adults and we Sail on Thursday nights from 7pm to 9pm and anyone is welcome to come have a introductory sail with our ship. Our official location is just near Edgewater park at the Dunedin Marina Boat Club and our ships are at Dock D, Slip 17.
We are a part of the Boy Scouts of America Sea Scouting/Venturing program, and have been active in the West Central Florida Council for over 20 years.
Supervised by qualified adults, members receive training, run the program and decide on activities for the coming year.
Knowing how to sail is not a requirement; learning is part of the club, and we have experienced people to teach you.
We're always looking for new, adventurous members to go sailing, camping, racing with local fleets and of course, our annual week-long cruise to the Bahamas, the Keys or whatever new ports we decide to explore.
