Seal Conservancy: http://www.sealconservancy.org Our mission is to preserve and protect the La Jolla harbor seal rookery.
The mission of the Seal Conservancy is to preserve and protect the La Jolla harbor seal rookery for ecological, educational, scientific, historic, and scenic opportunities.
The Seal Conservancy is a non-profit organization funded by small grants from philanthropic organizations and donations from the local community and the general public. We were awarded the Environmental Hero Award 2000 by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for our efforts in protecting the La Jolla Harbor Seals and educating the public about them. More recently, we have been instrumental in getting laws passed to help protect the rookery by closing Casa Beach during the harbor seal pupping season, and keeping the City's viewing guideline rope up during the other seven months of the year.
