About | Biography of Alan Shaw |
Description |
Born and raised in East Point, LA, Alan Shaw first sat in a saddle with his father, Larry Shaw, at the age of six weeks. He grew up showing on the AQHA circuit in everything from showmanship and halter, to barrels and poles. In 1989 Alan began breaking and training colts. As a three time PtHA World Champion in Working Cowhorse and a an APHA World Champion in Ranch sorting, Alan's first love as a rider will always be anything involving a cow. As a coach and trainer, he is dedicated to working with youth and amateur riders in the pattern classes on the APHA, PtHA, and local open circuits. Whether one is a rank beginner or a multiple world champion, Alan works with each rider to set achievable goals geared toward building skills and confidence in oneself and one's horse one step at a time. At Shaw Performance Horses the motto is: Faith, Focus, Finish--have faith in your abilities, your preparation, yourself, and your trainer; stay focused on one goal at a time; and finish strong no matter what happens along the way. There is a fourth "F" too and that is "fun." Riding and showing should be fun, first and foremost. Visitors are always welcome to drop in and see what we do at SPH. |
