Society for the Improvement of Rural People (SIRP) Facebook page is set up to share thoughts, experiences and obtain feedback on our activities, programmes and projects among the rural people; not only here in Nigeria but all around the West African sub-region.
Rural people constitute more than 1/2 of the world's population; particularly in the third world countries. But their lot has been that of continuous life of deprivation; whether it is education, health, governance, environment, gender, political participation and rights issues; the story is always the same: marginalization and exploitation.
This page would therefore provide voice on all issues that affect the rural people. It will provide a platform for dialogue, exchange of comments, generation of issues for discourse, questioning stereotypes, obtaining feedback, proffering solutions and pointing the way forward for the referred to, by Frantz Fanon, as " the wretched of the earth".
