Explorer Post 317 is open to young men and women ages 14 (and completed the 8th grade) and not yet 21 years old with an interest in law enforcement.
The mission of the Police Explorer Program is to guide young adults to a better path for the future through training, leadership, teamwork, discipline, friendship and to assist the South Tucson Police Department and the citizens of both South Tucson and Tucson through community service. Those explorers who remain dedicated to the program will become better citizens, regardless of whether or not they enter the law enforcement.
The program highlights include: the National Law Enforcement Exploring Leadership Academies, ride-alongs, career achievement awards, National Law Enforcement Exploring Conferences, and scholarship opportunities.
Explorer Post 317 is a volunteer non-profit group. The Post is highly dependent on fund raising and donations from companies and individuals to provide a quality program for the youth. If you or your company would like to make a donation or utilize the services of the South Tucson Police Explorers, call (520) 396-8697.
