Non-profit organization providing 12 year-round sports programs at no cost to children, teens, and adults with intellectual disabilities.
The mission of Special Olympics Southern California, Santa Barbara is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Our vision is to provide sports and training programs for any individual with intellectual disabilities who chooses to participate, thereby improving their lives and the lives of everyone they touch.
Our athletes are individuals with intellectual disabilities ages 8 and above who enjoy 11 different sports separated into two seasons. Spring season (February- June) offers athletics, aquatics, basketball, bocce, golf and gymnastics and the fall season (August-December) offers bowling, floor hockey, soccer, softball and tennis. All practices and programs are run by dedicated and passionate volunteers from the Santa Barbara community!
