Myself and my wife are the proud owners of Sprague's Butchers which is a family run butchers.
Upon leaving school I applied for a job I had seen advertised "trainee butcher" so I applied and got the job I was overwhelmed.
I was at the butchers for 6 years where I had gained alot of experience and knowledge, from knowing primal cuts of beef to old fashioned cuts, and also being a sausage guru :). I have always been self motivated and I had greater ambitions in life and wanted do my own thing.
So in February 2011 I formed Lloyd World of Sausages in Trull which was located in Taunton (somerset.) I wanted to specialise in something which I knew the market had a gap in and that was a true British sausage.! I sourced local pork, lamb and ingredients that I mixed and blended my sausages from.
It wasn't to long before recognition started and I started to win a few awards and win a few food shows for my sausages.
My grandfather was a master butcher in the 1950's just after the war. I believe he was very proud and fond of making the perfect sausage. I managed to obtain his recipes thinking perhaps one day if I took the butchering route they might of come to some use, and with great ambition they do!
Now the opportunity has arisen to own and operate a fully owned family butchery, the key fundamentals of life and running a successful business. My old boss once taught me to put the customer, and their interests ﬁrst, that customer satisfaction was imperative for a business. This is something which I greatly believe in and do to this day.
Myself and my wife Wendy have both keen farming interest having been bought up on our family farms from a very young age. Wendy's parents are mixed livestock farmers in a nearby village situated in Holcombe Rogus about 4 miles from wellington. This is where all of the meet in our shop will be sourced from.
