Sri Lanka United Muslim Alliance unfurled its flag on the 1st of January 2004 entering political arena amidst greetings and glad tidings of political leaders, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, religious dignitaries, and intellectuals, representatives of various state and private media, and a large gathering of public.
We ardently feel that every Sri Lankan, as a citizen should ensure that Sri Lanka should enjoy full scale sovereignty and it is the bounden duty of the same to protect its unitary and territorial integrity. As it encompasses a pluralistic society every community of this nation should live with its due self-esteem and dignity. In this context, the Muslim community should be recognized as a separate entity and ethnic block, as it has been done throughout the history, and their rights and privileges should not be compromised in the pretext of merging them with other communities based on geographical terms or its vernacular identity.
However every Sri Lankan, irrespective of his or her cast, creed or religion should strive for national unity, national peace and national prosperity. Our Missions and visions are based on these ideals.
We are very much interested to upgrade the standard of life for Muslins including their education, social and economic standards. We are also very much interested in establishing a positive image about the Muslin Community among the other communities in Sri Lanka
