|About||Almost 250 years ago a small group of German pioneers came to this area. It was a strange new world for them - away from their families, away from their homes and away from their church. Back in 1765 there was no Catholic Church in the area or anywhere|
Although our lives here in this Macopin area are very different from those faithful of 250 years ago, we know we continue to face obstacles as Catholics. That is why our theme for the anniversary year is "Daring to Practice Our Faith for 250 Years."
Our 250th Opening Celebration is scheduled for Sunday, March 16, 2014 and more events are scheduled until the following March 2015. We will soon have a complete calendar of these events to share with you. We hope you take part in as many events as you can.
We will continue to remind you of this number - 250, because it is so impressive. Just think about it - we have been here longer than the United States of America has been a country. So, I'm here today to ask each and every one of you to help us raise some money for this year of celebration by donating 250 cents. If everyone and that includes the children, too, can donate $2.50, we would have a great start to help cover costs. (If your house is anything like my house, you can just lift a sofa cushion or look in the laundry room and find change there.) Next weekend we will have a special container for you to drop your donation in. If you wish, feel free to give more than 250 cents.
Thanks in advance for your support and keep reading the bulletin for more information about our Jubilee year!
