|About||Working together to make SAIC a more sustainable school.|
|Mission||SAIC believes colleges and universities must exercise leadership in their communities and throughout society by modeling ways to minimize global warming emissions. Colleges of art & design have a responsibility to engage their students, faculty and staff by providing them with a supportive environment for sustainability focused teaching, learning, living, making and research. SAIC supports this mission through the creation of Sustainable SAIC, a committee and initiative that promotes and facilitates the cooperative efforts of students, faculty and staff to educate, develop values, share knowledge, adopt policies and implement practices that are sustainable.|
Sustainable SAIC is a committee and general initiative housed under the Instructional Resources Facilities Management Department (IRFM) and guided by their Sustainability Coordinator.
It is responsible for coordinating initiatives that enable SAIC to reduce its negative impacts on the environment, foster a greater community around sustainability, and provide opportunities for students and faculty to contribute to the international sustainability movement.
Our department serves as a focal point for coordinating sustainability initiatives on campus. This is accomplished through involvement in institutional and programmatic planning, information dissemination, providing guidance, reporting, and acting as a resource regarding sustainability in higher education.
If you have any thoughts or concerns regarding SAIC's sustainability focused programs please contact IRFM's Sustainability Coordinator at email@example.com
