2. ADVOCATE: The Rainbow Center works to ensure that all LGBTIQQA persons receive the same human rights as all other persons in Pierce County, Washington State, and the United States.
3. CELEBRATE: The Rainbow Center acknowledges the pride we have as members of a diverse population in this county, state, and country.
Currently we offer 23 drop in hours weekly. We offer resource tables, community phones, a lending library, pool table, and open access computers. We also provide meeting space for more than 11 community partners, which results in programming and meetings being held more than 23 nights per month. In addition, we operate a website that has links to our resource guide which lists over 200 LGBTQ and allied businesses and organizations.
We serve over 100 people per week from all different cultural backgrounds. Our clients represent a wide age range and hail predominantly from Kitsap, Pierce and Thurston counties. In partnership with TPCHD we offer confidential HIV testing as well as health issue referrals. The Rainbow Center also provides cultural competency training and represents in the community for many GLBTQ issues. In addition to being a great place to obtain resources and to connect with people, we provide a visible neighborhood presence for the LGBTQ community.
