|About||REAL HELP NOW for children & families affected by autism. Empowering children with autism to reach their true potential.|
|Mission||Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) is a national organization dedicated to providing information, resources, and support to families affected by autism. For families who have just received the autism diagnosis, TACA aims to speed up the cycle time from the autism diagnosis to effective treatments. TACA helps to strengthen the autism community by connecting families and the professionals who can help them, allowing them to share stories and information to help people with autism be the best they can be.|
Your support is vital to helping children with autism and their families because:
• Autism is a national emergency.
One in every 88 children is diagnosed with autism. - More than 1.5 million people in the United States are affected. Every 21 minutes a child is being diagnosed with autism. Autism is the fastest growing disorder in our country, and receives much less government funding than other diseases.
• Autism is treatable.
For decades autism has been viewed as a hopeless, untreatable disorder – today we know that interventions can help people with autism at any age. Your support helps TACA educate and empower families to seek appropriate interventions that are leading to significant progress for many children. Often this can mean the difference between never hearing a child speak, and a mother being able to hear, “I love you,” from her child for the first time.
• The number of families TACA helps more than doubled in 2008. In 2012, these families need our help more than ever.
The increased media attention recently brought to autism and to TACA, has resulted in the numbers of families served by TACA rising from 6,000 in 2007 to 30,000 in 2012. Our support from the community needs to expand at the same rate so that we can continue to meet the needs of families affected by autism and build the necessary infrastructure to ensure the delivery of effective programs and services.
• TACA is the preeminent organization providing direct support to families living with autism.
TACA provides real help now to families. TACA is the only national organization focused solely on family support, education and empowerment. These families need help, and TACA exists to provide it.
• Your donations are used wisely.
95% of all services are provided to families at absolutely no charge to them.
