Talking Tree is a forum for discussion and exploring topics that are related to our health, to our environment and our sustainability. A discussion forum that is related to what, how and who we eat in South Africa. We strive to share and learn from each other.
This is a public forum, opening up to welcoming all people. We invite guest speakers to join us and to share their knowledge and experiences around particular topics. We support new speakers by giving them a platform.
Topics include the global system and social structures, white privilege, poverty, religion, culture and tradition, feminism, effective animal activism and advocacy, workers rights, politics & policies and the continued collection, education and access to South African animal agriculture data.
We invite you to participate in these gatherings as a means to contribute to the awareness of the suffering of animals, birds, fish, reptiles and insects (non-humans both farmed and wild) in a capital profit system, which therefore contributes to the consequent suffering of humans and our earth.
Talking Tree gatherings happen on the last Saturday of every month hosted by Addis in Cape Ethiopian Restaurant, corner Church and
Long Street in Cape Town. These gatherings are free. Coffee ceremony and Ethiopian vegan food are generously offered as part of the event.
