|About||Natural environment inspired design and prints created by Drew Griffith who likes to produce work featuring trees, light, nature, and more trees.|
“I have always strongly agreed with the idea that we are a product of our environments. Having spent a great amount of time in the woods of Central Pennsylvania while growing up, many of my memories are framed by lush green leaves and ambient light seeping through the tall hardwoods and evergreens of this region. This natural environment shaped my youth and encouraged the development of my aesthetic preferences today.
Much of my work is a direct reflection of my home in the woods and the impact that it has had on my life. I still fantasize about tall timbers, beaten paths, glowing campfires, and the thoughts, moods, and ambience that accompany these memories inspire and direct my current line of work.”
Tall TImber Printworks was created by Drew Griffith as a platform for producing and sharing works of nature and light as they mingle within our surrounding environments. Drew starts every individual print with a pencil or charcoal, which is eventually reproduced through one of several printed mediums.
After growing up in a wooded rural setting, Drew moved to Glenside, Pennsylvania to attend Arcadia University where he learned about the ins and outs of multiple printing techniques from Justin Myer Staller. Drew spent some time at the Glasgow School of Art studying lithography and returned to Arcadia to complete his thesis and recieve a BFA in printmaking. The time that Drew spent at Arcadia and GSA has helped teach him how to focus on his roots and life experiences, which have contributed to a rich artistic aesthetic and identity.
Although he is new to the game, Drew hopes to make his work available to more print and nature enthusiasts as he continues to develop as an artist and printmaker.
Drew lives just outside of Philadelphia with his wife.
