A. Tau Eta Sigma is established to promote the highest possible degree of individual excellence in the art and science of dental technology.
B. This society is established to promote a greater degree of public recognition for the contribution rendered the dental community by dental technology.
C. This society is established to appropriately honor undergraduate students in dental technology for attaining and maintaining a high degree of scholarship.
D. This society is established to foster a higher level and frequency of communication within the dental community.
E. This society is established to honor those individual, graduates or faculty who have distinguished themselves in the field of dental technology.
F. This society is not organized for profit and none of its net income inures to the financial benefit of any individual or individuals.
G. This society is not affiliated with any other fraternity, organization or group.
H. Membership in this society shall not be denied an individual because of race, color, sex or creed.
The Greek letters represent the spirit and intent voiced by an informal group of students of the class of the 1969 at Durham technical Institute. This group, dedicated to achieving excellence within the discipline of dental technology, was known as “The Number Seven Society”, after a basic laboratory instrument.
“Tau” indicates “the” ; “Eta” represents the seventh letter of the Greek alphabet, while “Sigma” indicates “society”.
