The Caker was established in 2010 after I gained a following from my baking blog. I finished my degree in Marketing and began baking in earnest, eventually moving into my own little kitchen on Auckland's Karangahape Road.
Seven years later we're a team of ten girls, baking fresh cakes daily for delivery around Auckland and collection from our much bigger new space just two doors down from where I began on K'Rd.
My belief in cakes being naturally beautiful and delicious is so important to me and has helped for my unique aesthetic.
For us, taste comes first. We only use Belgian 70% dark couverture chocolate and we pack our cakes full of fruit so every bite is as heavenly as the one before. All of our cakes contain ground almonds to replace some or all of the flour, lending a more complex flavour and creating a more wholesome, moist, and sumptuous cake.
Our cakes are decorated with little black flecks of vanilla bean, crushed pistachios, toasted coconut, scatters of freeze-dried fruits and swirls of berry coulis or citrus curds.
