Our philosophy at the center is simple: We want to expose, equip, empower, and entrust students and community members with the knowledge and tools necessary to make a positive difference in the lives of others through sport.
|Mission||The Center for Sport, Peace, and Society, housed in the University of Tennessee’s College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, is composed of faculty, staff, and students who believe that sport can be used to support individual and community development. The center aims to promote cultural understanding between UT students and diverse communities through sport-based service. The center works in collaboration with community leaders to develop context-specific programming and is specifically interested in global solidarity and inclusion of underserved populations (e.g. girls and women, refugees/internally displaced, persons with disabilities). It is our hope that through sport, individuals will become empowered change agents interested in promoting peace and inclusivity in global and local communities.|
The Center for Sport, Peace, and Society combines the tradition of academic excellence associated with the University of Tennessee and its commitment to quality research with twenty-five years of international sports exchange experience.
