The museum was founded in 1924. It’s situated in the coasts of Juglas lake in Riga and occupies 87, 66 ha (215 acres) territory of pine tree forest. Here you can visit 118 ancient buildings from all historical regions of Latvia dated from 17th century to 1940. To furnish the buildings more than 4000 ethnographic items have been used. The museum is a monument of Latvian architecture and lifestyle.
