Our main fundraising event is The Joe Andy Memorial “Ball Buster Open” an annual golf tournament held during the summer. Golfers and other attendees contribute through participation in various raffles that take place at the cookout following the tournament. Other funds are solicited through a variety of venues including area business and individuals interested in helping to support this worthy scholarship program for two deserving students. Currently each year two students receive scholarships for their first year of higher education. Our stretch goal is to grow the program so that four students receive support for up to four years of post secondary education.
The Joe Andruszkiewicz Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 as a memorial to Joe Andruszkiewicz, a lifelong resident of Salem who died that year at the young age of 34. Joe believed strongly in education and always looked to ways he could help foster his same interest in today’s youth. This scholarship fund is seen as a way to keep Joe’s memory alive in the Salem Community of which he was a big part. Each year a scholarship has been awarded to two deserving Salem High School students who intend to concentrate in math, science or a related field.
