Established in 1836 in Brooklyn, Lindeman & Sons was one of the first piano factories in the United States, and they enjoyed an excellent reputation for quality and workmanship. During the Mid-19th Century, they introduced a peculiar piano called the 'Cycloid Grand' which was based on a square grand piano with a rounded back sitting on three legs. The Lindeman Cycloid Grand Piano received many professional endorsements by high-profile pianists, musicians, and singers of the era. In the early 1900's, Lindeman was building a full line of uprights, player pianos, and grand pianos until about 1950.
The Lindeman piano in the Restaurant was built in 1920 and rescued from a street corner only a few blocks from its new home.
