|About||Readings. Performances. Conferences. (&) Community.|
|Mission||Building relationships outside of the classroom—among Mills graduate students, writers, scholars, and activists—and between Mills and the Bay Area literary community, along with professionals in the fields of writing, publishing, and teaching.|
Staffed by graduate English students, The Place for Writers is central to the graduate experience at Mills College. Less a place than a community, The Place produces a roving series of programs and readings, including the Works in Progress reading series, the Contemporary Writers Series, interdisciplinary performances, conferences and panels on publishing and teaching, and, for the first time this year, a collaborative community dinner and poetry reading.
