The Ruth Bancroft Garden is a one-of-a-kind garden featuring an outstanding collection of drought-tolerant plants.
The mission of the Ruth Bancroft Garden, Inc. is to preserve this exceptional example of garden design and to continue to develop its collection of water-conserving plants for the education and enjoyment of the public.
The Garden also houses important collections of aloes, agaves, yuccas, and echeverias. Aeonium ‘Glenn Davidson’, the first succulent in Ruth’s collection, is still growing in The Garden.
The Garden was originally planted in 1972.
The Garden is open for visits from 10 am - 4 pm Tuesday - Thursday and 10am - 5pm Fri - Sunday, Closed Mondays. The retail nursery is open the same hours and sells a wide selection of unique succulents, cacti, California natives and drought-tolerant plants. Docent-led tours are also available.
