Theatre Museum was established in 1894 to house the theatrical memorabilia of the wealthy philanthropist Aleksey Bakhrushin (1865–1929). Now the world’s largest collection of theatre artefacts includes historic playbills, costumes and set designs used in theatre performances from the 18th centurу to present days.
Theatre Museum also has nine branches dedicated to the legendary personalities of Russian culture. All of them are situated in the center of Moscow.
