Veggie U is dedicated to increasing children’s awareness of healthy food options, and teaching them how real food reaches their plate. We believe children who are exposed to growing their own food are more likely to include vegetables in their diet. Our national non-profit organization supplies Classroom Gardens and a standards based, five-week science program to elementary and special needs students.
Veggie U enables educators to teach concepts in plant science and nutrition by providing interactive lesson plans and a classroom garden to elementary school and special needs students. A garden complete with seeds, soil, root view boxes, grow lights, a worm farm, tasting vegetables, and a 25-lesson curriculum planner with instructional videos gives the teacher everything needed for this hands-on program.
These materials allow the student to see, hear, taste, feel and experience the process of planting, growing and harvesting a crop in their classroom. Best of all - eating the results! Over 6,500 Veggie U Classroom Garden Kits have been placed in 36 states. Learn more at www.VeggieU.org
