Village Coworking is a remote work retreat providing 24/7 access for members. The space also hosts workshops, meetings and intimate events. Opening January 2018...get in early!
When I left my corporate career at an environmental firm in Colorado and moved back home to the Midwest, I took the skills I had developed over the past decade and launched a web design and branding firm. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Instantly I fell in love with the addictive creativity and authentic marketing strategies behind web design and branding, but I also loved the idea of working from home.
(Who doesn't dream of working from the couch in t-shirts and sweats?)
However, I quickly learned how difficult running a home-based business could be, with all the distractions, projects, chores, etc. I just wanted to play my bass and make clothes and cook Thai food.
The freedom of working from home is wonderful, but it's not the most productive environment when you're trying to build and grow a business. Fortunately, my business grew very quickly...which meant I needed to adjust to the demands and find an environment where I could be more focused and productive.
I tried cafes. They were loud, distracting, uncomfortable, and expensive for someone with hours of writing to do.
I tried the library. There was often unreliable internet and limited options for food, drink, meetings, or comfort.
I needed a welcoming yet quiet place where I could spend hours working on a project with complete focus. I wanted a space to share with others who also dreamed of the perfect office space for remote work - with comfortable seating, fast internet, and unlimited coffee and tea - at a reasonable price. And I desperately needed a space to host web design workshops, meetings, and various events on occasion.
With Village Coworking I have all of this and more, right in the heart of Old Town Dunlap. This is my remote work retreat.
