|About||Vittles for Vets is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation which provides food gift cards to veterans who rely on food pantries and soup kitchens.|
|Mission||Vittles for Vets was founded in Dec. 2014 by veterans for veterans. It's sole purpose is to distribute gift food cards, on a weekly basis in the amount of $50.00, to qualifying veterans. To qualify a veteran must have been discharged from the military with a discharge other than dishonorable. The veteran must be drug free and not dependent on alcohol and must be at or below the Federal poverty level. The veteran must be properly vetted by a VA Medical center staff member, a clergy or a veterans organization such as "The American Legion or The VFW. The card MUST be used for the purchase of wholesome, nutritious food products only. If you are, or know of, a veteran in need please forward information on the Vittles FB.|
As of Sept. 2017 the Vittles for Vets charity services close to thirty veterans and their families in six states. Our goal for 2017 was to render our services to twenty veterans, that goal has been surpassed. Although the number may seem small in comparison to the total number of veterans living in poverty, it will require donations in the amount of $78,000.00 to successfully provide a "hand-up" to just thirty veterans. For a small charity like Vittles it is an ambitious goal indeed, but I refuse to turn any qualified veteran away. That is where the "catch 22" comes into play.
I want to provide this service to as many veterans as possible, but in order to be successful and grow the Vittles charity is totally dependent on the kindness and generosity of the American people. It is only through your generosity this charity will be able to provide and grow. So this charity called "Vittles for Vets" is really YOUR charity and I am nothing more than a facilitator, distributing to our needy veterans the fruits of your kindness and generosity of a grateful American. Please support this most worthy of charities with a donation in any amount.
I thank you, your veterans thank you and God bless you.
