The West Virginia Prevention Research Center conducts culturally-appropriate research that benefits the health of the people in Appalachia.
The mission of the WVPRC is to transform WV public health policy and practice through community-engaged research and evaluation.
The West Virginia Prevention Research Center (WVPRC) is one of 26 Prevention Research Centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). For almost 20 years, the WVPRC has worked to expand community engagement, provide leadership and guidance in applied evidence-based public health policy and practice, maintain and expand WV PRC infrastructure and resources and foster, conduct and translate innovative community-driven prevention research and evaluation. By doing this the WVPRC strives to reduce health disparities related to race/ethnicity, geography, and socioeconomic status in West Virginia.
