WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.
RHN is a forum born to create synergy between regions and stakeholder sin the field of health issues.
It aims to:
- strengthen the cooperation and collaboration between regional and local actors and the international institutions working for health;
- promote the contribution of regions and local authorities;
- increase the understanding of regional and local health systems.
In 2017 we include 28 Regions from 22 Countries.
The Regions adhering to RHN commit themselves to work together in new ways to increase equity and improve governance for health, in line with the values and principles of the Sustainable Development Goals, the new policy framework for health and well-being in Europe. RHN
Members commit themselves to action across the whole health agenda, with a sharper focus on the environmental, social and economic
determinants that can foster or damage health.
