This month's event features Olga Loya Storytelling and AirAligned aerial dance group!

- Singing and Dancing Through Stories -
The culture of Latin America is passed on through personal stories about family and life, stories about community, stories about taking responsibility, stories about building character. Celebrate through dancing and singing as you hear folk tales, personal stories and myths.

Olga is a Latina teller of tales from San Jose, CA, and also an author, performance artist, keynote speaker, and teacher, who has performed and taught workshops throughout the United States and Mexico. Loya performs a large repertoire of family and personal stories with the goal of exploring the struggles and complexity of being bicultural—a Mexican–American in the United States.

Loya also tells bilingual Latin-American folklore and colorful and sometimes magical stories from Africa, India, Asia, the Antilles, and Europe. Loya uses stories as a way of examining themes like healing, racism, and multiculturalism. She incorporates a variety of performance styles, including improvisation, movement and dance, song, and instruments. Olga Loya performs in theaters, universities, festivals, conferences, museums, libraries, and schools.

AirAligned Aerial Dance Group
AirAligned aerial dance groups principal performers Joe Simms and Sophie Wingerd bring to you a new short about the magical shenanigans of Peter Pan, Wendy… and of course Tinker-bell!
This Family Friendly Short will showcase not only aerial silks, but also acrobatics and AERIAL BUNGEE!!!

We invite the audience to experience first hand the flight of aerial dance from this group originating right here at The Center for the Arts who has grown to a professional level known nationwide.

AirAligned Aerial Dance Group was formed in 2002 by Artistic Director Tresa Honaker. Unlike traditional circus performers AirAligned members consist of formally trained dancers. AirAligned is a theatrical aerial dance group. Productions are beautifully choreographed and athletically executed. The group has received additional training in the aerial arts from Ingrid Hoffman, Hollywood Aerial Arts and Cirque LA in Los Angeles, Trapeze Arts in Oakland and San Francisco Circus Center.
