On the evening of the first rehearsal, when actors and director come to together for the first time, we’ve added a special new public event. We’ll share what we learned at that first rehearsal, hear from artists and community members involved in the production about what they’re most looking forward to, and of course, take questions from the audience. Depending on what’s happening inside the theater, we’ll maybe even peek in and see what the set looks like so far.

The topic of this First Chat is “Neighbors, Native Plants, and Suburban Ecology.”

About the play:
Pablo and Tania are new to the neighborhood. Virginia and Frank have been fixtures in the area for decades. They all agree that the chain link fence separating their yards has got to go! A quick replacement with a stately wooden fence will arrive just in time to impress both Pablo’s bosses and the judges viewing Frank’s elaborate English garden. Everyone starts off on the right foot, but when the truth about that old fence is revealed and Tania’s vision of native plants and wildflowers doesn’t align with Frank’s pesticide-dependent masterpiece, a sparkling comedy of good intentions and bad manners blooms.

First Chats begin at 7:00 pm in the Trinity Rep lobby. They are free and open to the public. We will also broadcast the talk via Facebook Live.
