Winsted Trails, a NW Connecticut YMCA program, will pair up with Rowley Grill and Tap to present an evening of fine art, good food and great beer. The evening will begin with a Beer Tasting featuring Two Roads Brewing Company accompanied by light fare from the Rowley Grill & Tap's kitchen. The event will be capped by the Auction of 11 works of art created by artists from around the NW Corner during the Plein Air Art Exposition hosted by Winsted Trails during the Friends of Main Street Fall Foliage Festival on October 7 of last year.
On April 21, 2018 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Rowley Grill and Tap, 19 Rowley St, Winsted CT, will transform into an Art Gallery and Auction House featuring 11 original works of art from area artists. The first half of the evening will include a final viewing of the artworks and a Meet &Greet with the artists while a tasting menu of beers from Two Roads Brewery out of Stratford CT is accompanied by favorites from Rowley's menu.
"Attendees will also be able to purchase votes to cast for their favorite artwork in the 'Picture Perfect Postcard Competition' where the four pictures receiving the highest votes will become postcards to promote, not only The City Walk, but the entirety of Winsted, to our surrounding communities." said Winsted Trails Co-Chairman Ric Nalette. The City Walk is a 2.75 mile looping trail, established in 2017 that circles the downtown commercial district, East End Park, and The Mad River including Winsted's very first Rails-to-Trails project,The River Walk. "Last Fall, Winsted Trails hosted a Plein Air Art Exposition with artists working live at various points on the The City Walk during Friends of Main Street’s Fall Foliage Festival. Each of the artists captured a different beat of that heart, and we are all really excited to be able to present them for the first and only time as a unified collection." Mr Nalette explained.
The second part of the evening will feature the Auction and the final tally of the votes for the Picture Perfect Postcard Competition. Proceeds from the auction, tee shirt sales and postcard sales will go towards continuing Winsted Trails’ goals which are developing and mapping a system of trails in Winchester and Winsted eventually connecting to the surrounding communities, including bringing The Sue Grossman Still River Greenway to heart of downtown Winsted.
Artists include Cheryl Bartley, Kathleen Hayes Borkowski, Victoria Cooper Goodwinin, Sara Gubetta, Lara Green-Kazlauskas, Gail Easton Fine Art, Victor Leger, The Artist Rus'el, Lori Samson, Gay Schempp, and Jeffery Sesko.
