There is no form of art that doesn’t recognize the power and ability of food to stir and elevate all human senses. To quote Marcel Proust, "When from the distant past nothing remains, after the beings have died, after the things are destroyed and scattered, still, alone, more fragile, yet more vital, more insubstantial, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long time, like souls, ready to remind us, waiting and hoping for their moment, amid the ruins of everything else; and bear unfaltering, in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence, the immense architecture of memory."

We’re delighted to host one such a stirrer of food and memory, Archana Pidathala, for an exploration of the nature and craft of food writing. Archana is the author of Five Morsels of Love, shortlisted earlier this year for the 2017 Art of Eating Prize (and admittedly a Bookshop favourite). The book is an ode to memories of long, languid summers filled with food spent at her grandmother's home in Andhra Pradesh.
From food writing in India, to the very need and existing efforts to rescue Indian food from the realms and curries and tikkas, we welcome you to a very special evening promising great insight from a dedicated lover and expert.

There may be food too.

Seating begins at 5:45 and is very limited. We urge you to be on time.
