EDDY Current inspection of welds in ferritic materials, the frequency shall be chosen according to the material (conductivity, permeability),the defect(type, location and size)and the probe design. Its suggested to use a frequency around 100 KHz. The minimum size of indication that the eddy current method is capable to detect in ferritic steel weld in the as welded condition is 1mm deep x5mm length. If there is a need for further clarification, or when the removal of an indication shall be verified, it is requested that the testing is supplemented with other NDT inspection method like Magnetic Particle Testing or Penetrant Testing
