The Somali Youth Basketball League (SYBL) is a non-profit organization founded in 2003 to help youth develop leadership and social skills, as well as their basketball skills.
SYBL strives to promote a sense of community and good relations amongst youth with the surrounding community in the context of multicultural athletic events. The promotion of social interactions, cultural integration, teamwork, co-operation, communication, and a sense of accomplishments amongst to participants.
Connecting youth 12 -18 years old with established mentors and male role models in their community. Over 150 youth participate each Saturday from October to May to partake serious and organized activities that include practices, weekly games, mentoring and networking.
SYBL provides affordable venue that promotes interaction between youths and young adults of various communities, especially those considered at risk (defined as minorities/low income).
