Richter Association for the Arts welcomes the famous singer/songwriter duo, Grayson Hugh and Polly Messer on Sunday afternoon, April 15, 3 p.m. at Richter House, 100 Aunt Hack Rd., Danbury.

These acclaimed musicians will perform a program of songs characterized as "a soul/rock stew with a dash of blues and a pinch of country" in the intimate, acoustic setting of the Richter House salon.

Grayson's major label debut, "Blind To Reason" (RCA 1988), wowed music critics and live audiences around the world. The album garnered several international radio hits and went Gold in the U.S. and overseas; his voice has been compared to soul legends Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. His second record "Road To Freedom”, released on MCA, was called one of 1992's top-ten albums by Billboard Magazine. Two of his songs from that record were featured in Ridley Scott's Oscar-winning film "Thelma & Louise" in 1991.

Polly Messer began her career as a singer with the Connecticut swing band Eight To The Bar, in the late seventies. She began singing backup vocals for Hugh’s band The Wildtones, in 1982. Married in August 2008. they have brought their duo show to premier venues in both the U.S. and Europe. Polly is also a member of the band Grayson Hugh & The Moon Hawks. In addition to singing on Hugh’s 2015 “Back To The Soul” album, she took all the photographs for the accompanying 12 page booklet and was Art Director for the project.

Refreshments and the opportunity to meet the artists will follow the one-hour program. Admission by free-will donation. Partially funded by the Danbury Cultural Commission.
