Afrobeats, also called Afropop, was heavily influenced by Afrobeat. This genre has grown tremendously over the past decade due to the globalization of both Afrobeat and Hip Hop by the first generation descendants of African immigrants living in the United Kingdom and the United States. This musical genre is often accompanied by a dance genre of the same name. Afrobeats dance fuses traditional and modern African dances from the continent with Hip Hop, Rhythm & Blues, House, Jamaican DanceHall, and other styles.

Participants will learn basic foundational movements in addition to modern dance steps from around the African continent and the Diaspora.

The benefits of this class include enhanced strength, flexibility, technique, musicality, and cultural knowledge, in addition to learning in a fun, judgement-free, and high-energy environment. The energy that exists in this class is both healing and contagious. All levels are welcome!
