Benefit your brain and drop your stress levels by practicing meditation in nature. According to the National Center for Complimentary and Integrative Health, the benefits of meditation include decreased blood pressure, relieved anxiety and depression symptoms, improved mood. Better yet - these effects continue even while not meditating. (Source: https://nccih.nih.gov/health/meditation/overview.htm)

Breathe deeply and center yourself in the moment at our Meditation Retreat on Sunday, May 6. Through guided meditation, woodland walks, and seated contemplation, you can cultivate a more profound awareness of the natural world and your place in it by immersing yourself in our tranquil gardens and landscapes. The Meditation Retreat will feature light guidance from Neil Meisel, co-founder of The Awareness Center in Newark, DE.

About the Instructor:
Neil is a co-founder of the Awareness Center in Newark, DE, where he teaches meditation and yoga and practices Rolfing, a form of bodywork that can be very helpful for people in chronic pain. Neil has maintained an almost daily meditation practice since 1981 and has attended meditation retreats consistently since 1989. He believes we can learn to meditate on any aspect of our experience; however, tuning into nature through our senses and our minds can be soothing as well as insightful.

Neil is excited to teach at Mt. Cuba Center because this allows him to combine his longstanding passion for meditation with his passion for nature. There is a reason that meditation retreats have been held in natural settings for close to two-thousand-five-hundred years.
