Prana means life force and yama means to control. Therefore the act of Pranayama is to control and work with the life force energy, the breath.
In this workshop we will explore the various yoga breathing techniques (Pranayama) and their benefits for the physical body as well as the positive impact on the mind.
The session will start with some stretches to open the body so that it is ready for the breath to actively flow. We will then work through various techniques interspersed with relaxation to encourage inner healing as well as mental absorption of the practices.
Finally we will also explore simple bandha (lock) techniques which use the breath in a powerful meditative manner to open up inner intuition.
Please bring a yoga mat, cushion, notebook and pen to the session.
